Meet The Intern: Mary Meng

Olivia Kegley

Marymeng

Hi! My name is Mary Meng, and I’m a rising junior at Yale University studying Cognitive Science with a focus in behavioral economics. I’ve been a Clevelander all my life and am passionate about giving back to the place and people that raised me. Outside of school, I love traveling, trying new recipes, and hosting movie nights with my friends.

This summer, I’m excited to join the Greater Cleveland Film Commission as a Marketing and Development Intern. I was drawn to GCFC because it brings together storytelling, nonprofit work, and a mission that directly supports Cleveland’s creative community. As someone who cares deeply about this city, I’m excited to learn more about the work being done to bring productions to Northeast Ohio and strengthen the local film industry.

I love movies for the way they bring people together, and I’m excited to be working with an organization that creates opportunities not only for the people who make movies, but also for the communities that get to experience their impact.

During my time here, I hope to gain hands-on experience in marketing and development, learn how nonprofits build support for their mission, and contribute to an organization that is helping Cleveland grow.

Some of my favorite movies and shows include The Sound of Music, 12 Angry Men, The Office, Pride and Prejudice, and Avatar: The Last Airbender.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of GCFC this summer and excited to learn from everyone here
