Meet the Intern: Oye Olowu

My name is Oye Olowu, and I am an incoming freshman at Howard University where I intend on majoring in business administration. I wanted to Intern at the Greater Cleveland Film Commission because I’ve always had a deep interest in filmmaking. This internship at the commission was so important because It helped show me a way to combine my interest in filmmaking with my business major to develop a career that I can be passionate about and enjoy. My time at the commission has really allowed me to broaden my perspectives and see how things really work in the film industry.

Outside of the internship I am very involved in extracurriculars such as hockey, tennis, and track. I am also very passionate about creating art whether it’s through photography, food, painting, or drawing. In my spare time, I have enjoyed watching series such as Beef, The Watcher, and the first two seasons of White Lotus.

This internship has allowed me to not only get real experience and insight into the film industry, but it has provided me with the resources to start my career and build industry relationships early. I am very grateful for this opportunity and highly recommend it for anyone looking to learn more about the real process of filmmaking.
