Hello. I’m Caio Bueno Martins and I’m from Sylvania, Ohio. I was born in Campinas, São Paulo and I moved to Ohio in 2009 when I was seven. I became more familiar with the Cleveland area when I attended Oberlin College and made friends with some people from Cleveland Heights. I graduated in 2024 with a Bachelor’s in Creative Writing. Currently, I’m still living in Sylvania and working as a karate instructor at the school I’ve been going to since I was eight.
Naturally, I enjoy writing in my free time. I typically switch between writing cartoon scripts and a web novel I’ve recently started developing. The works that have most influenced my writing have been early 2000s cartoons such as Ben 10 and Avatar along with more horror focused work like Uzumaki and Silent Hill. Beyond that, I enjoy building model robots, though I don’t do it often since I have a habit of accidentally breaking them. I also like games of any kind, particularly ones with a strong narrative focus like Dungeons & Dragons.
What drew me to the GCFC was their commitment to working not only with big studios but also with more local, less recognized talent. I think they have created a very welcoming environment for artists who hope to get their foot in the door of such a massive industry. I tend to be a bit timid so by working with the GCFC I’m hoping to challenge myself to get out of my comfort zone and to really make the most out of any networking opportunity that comes my way, of which there are many. Eventually, I hope to establish myself as a showrunner.
TV:
Ben 10, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Regular Show, Close Enough, Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated, Smiling Friends, The Rehearsal, Brooklyn 99, One Piece (Netflix), Castlevania, Vice Principals, Beck, Invincible
Movies:
Sinners, Rocky, Creed, The Mummy (1999), The Raid: Redemption, Smile 2, Howl’s Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Your Name, A Silent Voice, Alien, Scream, The Naked Gun, The Truman Show
Generally, I like a mix of oddball comedy and body/cosmic horror. Character-driven stories are always a plus for me and I love high-octane action as well.
And for anyone interested, here’s an early draft of my cartoon pilot, I hope you enjoy it!
