Hey, y’all! My name is Olivia Grace Kegley, and I’m an incoming senior at Baldwin Wallace University. I originally hail from Pensacola, Florida, a small city in the Sunshine State. I come from a generationally artistic family. My grandfather is a bluegrass musician. My mother, aunt, and grandmother are all artists. My father is a former theatre techy, and both my siblings are musicians and theatre artists. I have spent the majority of my life in theatre, dedicating hours to voice lessons and dance classes, but have always loved film and television.
My time at Baldwin Wallace has been spent pursuing a degree in Acting and Directing with a minor in Arts Management. Through my academic and extracurricular experiences, I have developed a strong desire to contribute to nonprofit organizations that drive social change through the arts. I believe that art, particularly in film and theatre, has the power to foster empathy, promote diversity, and create lasting change. This belief fuels my passion for supporting organizations like GCFC. My goal is to ultimately pursue a career in directing, working specifically in telling female-driven stories.
Some of my favorite films and shows I’ve been inspired by lately are:
Jentry Chau vs. The Underworld
Sinners
Pantheon
I Saw the TV Glow
Fleabag
In the coming months I will spend with GCFC, I am particularly excited about having the opportunity to learn hands-on experience with leadership in the nonprofit sector. The opportunity to be a part of Cleveland's growing film and media scene is really exciting. I hope that as a GCFC intern working in grant research, I can aid in their mission while gaining valuable skills that support my passions.
