Development Awards More Than $4.8 Million for New Film Projects Across Ohio |

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – The Ohio Department of Development today announced more than $4.8 million in tax credits to support seven production projects taking place across the state. 

The awards will be issued through the Motion Picture Tax Credit Program, with two Broadway theatrical productions, three television series, and two feature films receiving funding. The projects are expected to create more than 104 new jobs and more than $7.9 million in total payroll—having an estimated economic impact of more than $14.8 million. 

The Motion Picture Tax Credit program provides a refundable tax credit of 30 percent on production cast and crew wages and other eligible in-state spending for qualifying productions—including feature-length films, documentaries, and miniseries, among others.  

 Projects being awarded are: 

Broadway Theatrical Productions 

  • The WizSpringfield, $346,681.50 
  • The BodyguardToledo, $421,750.50 

 Feature Films 

  • Friday Knights of the 80sCleveland, $1,991,449.80 
  • Raid PacificCleveland, $616,494 

 Television Series 

  • Sugarcreek Amish Mysteries: Season 2 – Part 2Canton, $738,441.60 
  • Suddenly Amish S2Berlin, $376,405.50 
  • Zombie House Flipping: Family, Columbus, $382,503 

Applications are reviewed and awarded on a rolling basis year-round. Each fiscal year will have a $50 million allocation plus any rollover amounts, with $5 million each year being designated specifically for Broadway/theatrical productions.
