DEADLINE EXCLUSIVE: Football documentary The Object Of The Game, which features gridiron luminaries Bill Belichick, Tony Romo, Mike Tomlin, Urban Meyer, Sean McVay, Tony Dungy, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, and more, will premiere on Prime Video.

The three-part docuseries, which launches February 4th just ahead of the Super Bowl, examines what the sport demands, why it matters, how football values are formed — and why they endure.

At its core, the film centers on the climactic final season and enduring legacy of legendary high school coach Chuck “Chico” Kyle, whose four-decade career as football coach and English teacher at Cleveland’s Saint Ignatius High School helped shape generations of players and influenced some of the game’s most powerful figures.

Above is a new trailer for the film. Below is the stirring original trailer, which we launched last year.

The Zodiac Features production is directed and executive-produced by Matt Waldeck (I See YouLovely Jackson). Executive producers include Ben Hecht, Travis Killian, and Blake Williams. Worldwide sales are managed by United Talent Agency and XYZ Films.

“At one time or another, every player or coach decided to pick up a football and said ‘yes, this is for me’,” said Waldeck. “This film is about that starting point—the values that last when the bright lights fade and a playing or coaching career ends. With the arrival of NIL deals, NCAA and high school football in America are in a business era, this series serves as a reminder of the fundamental ‘why’ of it all and the passion that drew us to the game in the first place.”
