MEDINA, Ohio -- Businesses on and around the Medina square will be leaving their Christmas decorations up until mid-January, as historic Medina will serve as the backdrop for an upcoming Christmas movie.

Main Street Medina’s Angela Mansier said the organization reached out to nearby businesses after hearing from the line producer of an upcoming Christmas movie.

The company plans to film several establishing shots, as well as a scene featuring movie characters at the gazebo.

Filming is expected to take place Jan. 12-14.

Mansier said many businesses were happy to comply.

“We know it is a Christmas movie, but other than that, we know about as much as the average Joe,” she said.

Mansier said this film will be the fourth movie within the last year to have scenes filmed in Medina.

“We have worked with the Medina County Convention and Visitors Bureau and our local business owners, and I think word of mouth has gotten out that we are very accommodating and Medina is kind of a natural fit for the kind of town a lot of them are trying to recreate,” she said.

Mansier said the first movie that filmed shots in Medina included a Medina graduate who was part of the production.

Scenes from a second movie were shot in historic Medina over the summer and a third in early December.

“It is definitely very exciting, and with a lot of the façade renovations that have taken place around the square thanks to the Main Street Medina façade grants, our town keeps getting prettier and prettier,” she said.
