CLEVELAND (WJW) — It was lights, cameras, action in downtown Cleveland Wednesday morning as film crews were spotted working along Superior Avenue.

Bill Garvey, president of the Greater Cleveland Film Commission, said he could not disclose what project was filming.

“We’re building momentum. This is what that’s about,” Garvey explained.

Clues surfaced last month when a local talent agency issued a casting call for extras in a feature film titled Conspiracy

Garvey could not confirm whether Wednesday’s shoot was connected, but he emphasized the broader importance of the growing film activity.

“This is about building an industry that brings a lot of spending, economic investment into our region,” he said. “It creates a lot of jobs that are high paying.”

Movie crews are also expected to film scenes at Burke Lakefront Airport on Wednesday night.

Garvey credits Ohio’s Motion Picture Tax Credit—established in 2009—as a key factor behind the surge in productions.

He also praised the city of Cleveland for continuing to attract both television and film projects.

“There is a lot of activity going on in this industry here, building on that momentum to keep people employed locally.  And these are Cleveland jobs,” Garvey said.
