CLEVELAND — The Greater Cleveland Film Commission is inviting "Superman" fans to celebrate the upcoming DC Studios film's release while helping the commission attract more Hollywood productions to Northeast Ohio.

On July 10, GCFC is hosting a special fan screening of James Gunn's "Superman" with pre-show photo ops, catered food, music, a raffle of Man of Steel-themed memorabilia — several pieces of which are signed by Gunn and/or stars David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan — and more.

The event, held at Phoenix Theatres at Great Northern Mall in North Olmsted, costs $50 for individuals. Admission includes a movie ticket, a themed t-shirt designed by GV Art + Design, food by Famous Dave's, and a raffle entry. Guests can also take photos with cosplayers and see rare artifacts from the Cleveland Library exhibit, "The Superman Homecoming: The Heritage of Ohio’s Own Superhero." A silent auction will give guests the chance to win a 45-minute flight for two aboard the Goodyear Blimp.

Proceeds benefit GCFC, Northeast Ohio's only nonprofit organization dedicated to driving job creation and economic development within the local film and television industry. According to GCFC, the organization has booked productions with a record $256.5 million combined production spend for this year. The film commission launched a membership drive called "Be a Cleveland Film Hero" earlier this year in an effort to draw more revenue and keep the momentum going.

The July 10 movie screening will start at 7 p.m., with pre-show festivities kicking off at 5 p.m. More information about individual and sponsor ticket packages can be found HERE.

While preview showings start across the U.S. July 10, the official domestic opening date for "Superman" is July 11. Amazon is giving its Prime members access to early screenings at select theaters on July 8.

Gunn and his crew spent six weeks shooting scenes at several locations across Cleveland last summer, turning recognizable locations into Metropolis landmarks — like the Leader Building's transformation into the Daily Planet (at least the facade) and Progressive Field's turn as the home of the Metropolis Meteors. Production also ventured outside the city, with sequences shot at Mentor Headlands Beach in Lake County.

Cleveland has been all over the film's trailers and marketing materials, including the most recent preview dropped this week. Trailers have shown Superior Avenue, Public Square, Cleveland City Hall, the Detroit-Superior Bridge, the Arcade and Progressive Field.

"Superman" stars Corenswet in the title role, Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as villain Lex Luthor. The movie's myriad supporting actors include Nathan Fillion, Skyler Gisondo and Isabela Merced.
