Hi! My name is Rachel Pearlman, and I am a fourth-year Honors student at Cleveland State University studying Film and Media Arts with a minor in Marketing. I grew up in Beijing, China, but have lived in the Greater Cleveland area since 2018. Working at the Greater Cleveland Film Commission is a wonderful way for me to give back to the Cleveland community that has become my home.

I have always had a passion for storytelling, which is what drew me to film! I believe storytelling is extremely powerful and can make a real impact by inspiring others, bringing people together, educating audiences, and spreading awareness.

As an avid film lover, I am excited to intern at the Greater Cleveland Film Commission and gain insight into the inner workings of Cleveland’s film industry. As a CSU film student who frequently uses the GFCF website, I’m especially thrilled to contribute to an organization I'm already familiar with. I have also always admired nonprofits because they are mission-driven and serve the public. Those values align with my own, which makes working for an organization like GFCF especially meaningful. During my time at the Greater Cleveland Film Commission, I hope to grow my skills in marketing, filmmaking, and nonprofit management.

A fun fact about me is that I don’t have a favorite film—or a favorite anything, really! There are just too many amazing movies, experiences, and things to appreciate. I always try to find value in different perspectives and experiences. When it comes to films, I especially enjoy psychological thrillers and older movies. Outside of school, I love traveling, hiking, animals, music, and art. I am always looking for new experiences and opportunities to grow and learn. :)
