CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Greater Cleveland Film Commission will welcome author and film historian Scott Eyman as the featured guest at its annual “Behind the Camera” fundraiser on Friday, Nov. 6. A Northeast Ohio native, Eyman is an expert on Hollywood’s Golden Age and has written books about John Wayne, Cary Grant, Cecil B. DeMille and more.
The event, at the Cleveland History Center, will spotlight Ohio’s role in the birth of the motion picture industry, including the origins of Warner Bros. in Youngstown and the contributions of silver-screen legends such as Clark Gable, Bob Hope and Dean Martin. WKYC anchor Betsy Kling will moderate the discussion.
The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a VIP cocktail hour and meet-and-greet with Eyman. Tickets range from $75 to $150 are available at clevelandfilm.com. Admission includes a drink ticket, hors d’oeuvres, free parking and after-hours access to museum exhibits such as “Hollywood on the Cuyahoga,” exploring Cleveland’s film legacy. The Cleveland History Center is at 10825 East Blvd. in University Circle.
Proceeds benefit the Greater Cleveland Film Commission, which works to bring film and television production to Northeast Ohio. Since 2024, the non-profit has attracted projects such as James Gunn’s “Superman,” Hulu’s upcoming NFL drama “The Land” and the indie horror hit “Buddy” to the region. According to the GCFC, film and TV production in Northeast Ohio has generated over $131 million in direct spending and created thousands of local crew jobs during that period.
