NEW FRANKLIN, Ohio — As girls wrestling continues to grow across the country, nine Ohio athletes who helped break barriers in the sport are now being featured in a new documentary.

Jaydyn McKinney, a three-time state champion at Manchester High School, is one of the wrestlers highlighted in WrestleHER, a documentary that spotlights the rise of girls wrestling and the athletes who helped build it in Ohio.

Girls wrestling has become one of the fastest-growing high school sports in the country. According to the National Federation of State High School Associations, 88,771 girls participated during the 2025-26 school year. Over the past five years, the sport has added more than 57,000 high school participants nationwide.

Ohio has played a major role in that growth. The state became the 33rd to sanction girls wrestling as a varsity sport in 2022.
