As summer draws to a close and we think fondly on our memories of barbecues, beaches, cold drinks, tans, and light clothing, let’s spend some time reminiscing about short shorts! Specifically, short shorts (as set by our Shorts Programming Team) as films around 8 minutes long, or less! As autumn rolls in, we thought we’d send a publicly available list of CIFF alum films, sought out by our Shorts Programming Team, and organized into a collection so that you can have one program of short shorts to close your summer, or you can spread them out and keep the memories of summer going well into the autumn. You get to choose the screening order!
Each of these films is publicly available, so make sure if you need captioning (and if it’s available), you select the option (usually found in the lower right-hand corner of the viewing window), when the film begins.
As a special inclusion, let’s celebrate Cleveland’s long-standing connection to short film by taking a look at this public domain film, held by the Library of Congress, which shows industrial activity in Cleveland’s Flats, filmed by the Edison Company (of the Thomas Edison), in 1897. Cleveland’s been at this short film game for quite some time!
The Shorts Programming Team would like to thank The Greater Cleveland Film Commission for sharing this link with us so that we can share it with you. Enjoy!
We look forward to seeing you at our next in-person Shorts Club event, coming in October 2026! (More information to follow in the near future.)
