Composer & Sound Editor Scott Hallgren led GCFC's Post-Production Sound & Scoring Workshop on September 28th at Tri-C Metro Campus.
The Greater Cleveland Film Commission presented a Post-Production Sound & Scoring Workshop with Composer & Sound Editor Scott Hallgren, hosted by the Tri-C Film Academy. This workshop provided an introduction to the basics of working in post-production sound and scoring for film, including:
- Workflow overview and practices
- Dialog, room tone, and ADR
- Foley. sound effects, and final mix
- Creative musical choices
- Technical and temp music
- Legal considerations and more!
ABOUT SCOTT HALLGREN
Scott Hallgren has an extensive list of film, TV, music video, and gaming work as a sound designer, boom operator, and composer, including the Emmy-nominated civil rights documentary "We Shall Not Be Moved: the Nashville Sit-Ins" which also won him both a 2011 Silver Telly and Golden CINE Award; "Sith'd", Best Comedy at the 2006 Comic-con; the 2017 award winning APT/PBS documentary “Perfect 36: How Women Won The Vote”; and 2020’s “Frank”, which won Best Music at the Independent Horror Movie Awards. In 2023, he won Best Original Score at the Paris Film Awards for "The Resistance”.
He is an affiliate member of the Motion Picture Sound Editors Guild, an AVID Certified Instructor for ProTools, and a Dolby Developer. He has served as a panelist and/or on the selection committees of the Seattle, Nashville, Cleveland, and Highland Square (Akron) film festivals, and was an Oscar qualifying short films juror for the 46th Cleveland International Film Festival. He serves on the Advisory Board for the Seattle Film Institute and as Board President of Mind Balloon Films. He currently serves as an Associate Professor in film/TV at Kent State University.
