Welcome to the Greater Cleveland Film Commission.

The Greater Cleveland Film Commission is designed to help facilitate the ongoing promotion and production of film, television and other related media within North East Ohio. Established in 1998, our film commission has helped the local community serve as host to such feature films as The Soloist (DreamWorks S.KG., 2009), Spider Man 3 (Sony, 2007), Against the Ropes (Cort/Madden Productions, 2004), American Splendor (Good Machine, 2003), Welcome to Collinwood (Warner Bros. Pictures, 2002), and Antwone Fisher (Fox Searchlight Pictures, 2002).

North East Ohio is the ideal location to film your production. Cleveland is centrally located between Chicago, Pittsburgh and New York on the coast of Lake Erie, and along the Cuyahoga River. We celebrate four beautiful seasons and we offer a unique variety of locations, including period designed city architecture and a wide array of scenic neighborhoods ranging from the beautiful Edgewater mansions to Amish Country.

The Greater Cleveland Film Commission will ensure that your production has a fantastic filming experience in our region. In addition to providing fee-free use of our 375,000 sq. foot Convention Center, and flying in key-decision makers for pre-scouting and planning, we offer helpful and friendly cooperation from the City, County and State Government, and highly skilled local crew and vendors. Whether you need a busy city street closed on a work-day, or help with making hotel accommodations for your cast and crew, our Film Commission is staffed with seasoned Los Angeles film veterans that know what is expected. Let the Greater Cleveland Film Commission help to provide you with the best quality film production experience available!

The Greater Cleveland Film Commission is excited to announce their participation in Cleveland Rocks!

Cleveland Rocks! is a community arts project that celebrates the unique artistic excellence and diversity of the city of Cleveland. Featuring Epiphone Les Paul guitars that are to be artistically designed by Ohio based visual artists and celebrities, this project will serve as an artistic reminder and display of Cleveland’s lush musical heritage and unwavering commitment to music that Rocks! Once completed, the guitars will be exclusively exhibited in the Fall of 2009 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, and subsequently auctioned off to raise funds for three local non-profit organizations: the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, the Greater Cleveland Film Commission and the Cleveland Music School Settlement. This is a great opportunity to once again let the world know—Cleveland Rocks!

We hope you will join the cause and apply to become one of the artists who will help make this project a resounding success while also aiding several organizations of our city. To download an application click HERE Cleveland_Rocks_CALL_FOR_ARTISTS, visit the Cleveland Rocks! website, or come into the film commission offices (1301 E 9th Street, Suite 120, Cleveland, OH 44114) to pick an application up!

In addition to the things most film offices do -- free locations scouting, directories, permitting assistance and the like -- the Greater Cleveland Film Commission works to cut costs for producers and go above and beyond to provide an excellent environment for filming.

Free flights, hotel and ground transportation. FREE of Charge during Development and scouting phases, for productions of scale, the Greater Cleveland Film Commission will

-Fly decision makers to Cleveland
-Provide free lodging at the Ritz Carlton Cleveland
-Provide free ground transportation *(free tours are generally for up to four key decision makers and at the discretion of the Film Commission)
-Destination Cleveland - Sales Tax Rebate

Productions may apply through the Film Commission for a 50% rebate against the Cuyahoga County Sales Tax. Qualifying productions must be spending new dollars in the area, and the offer stands as long as County funds are current.
Made In Cleveland Discount Card and Personal Production Shopper

Cleveland's Council of Smaller Enterprises and the Greater Cleveland Film Commission offer a production discount program with participating vendors and a Personal Shopper to work with production staff on large scale productions. The motion picture Personal Shopper works with Production staff to serve as a One Stop Shop for finding the best deals in purchasing all needed goods and services.
One Stop Hotel Bidding: The Film Commission and its partners will, on request, out a single unified request for bids to all area hotels.

One Stop Shop - Not Only for Governmental Agencies, but for many private properties as well. The Greater Cleveland Film Commission is not only a central point for permitting and assistance with Federal, state, regional and local governmental agencies - we also have close relationships with many property owners in downtown Cleveland that can assist producers in location control.

The northern Ohio area has an active independent filmmaking community comprising of indigenous and out-of-town filmmakers. We are supportive of independent filmmaking and can assist you in a variety of ways.  Please contact our office for more information.

Permits
Most permits have a nominal fee. For example, the City of Cleveland charges $20 for a permit per street for the duration of your shoot. Permits are required for obstructing the public right-of-way. Please contact our office if you require a permit for northern Ohio.

Our organization does not list actors. Casting calls may be posted on our website from time to time, so please check our site under job postings. If you are interested in learning more about acting there are a variety of resources in town to contact.
