Save Ohio Film Jobs Media Mixer (05/14/2019)

#SaveOhioFilmJobs Media Mixer

In light of the recent proposal by the Ohio House to eliminate the Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit,
we hosted an emergency Media Mixer at the Music Box Supper Club.

We had an excellent turnout, almost 250 people, and it was great to connect with all the local professionals at once to answer questions and share ideas about saving the Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit.

Spring Media Mixer at Music Box Supper Club (03/12/2019)

Thank you to everyone who came out to the first Media Mixer of 2019!

We had over 200 local film professionals join us in the Rusty Anchor at the Music Box Supper Club on Tuesday night, one of the largest attended Media Mixers to date.

During this free networking event, GCFC President Ivan Schwarz gave an update on the Cleveland film industry, what projects are looking to film in Northeast Ohio, the current state of the Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit increase, and the new online production training FilmSkills.

Cleveland Stories Dinner Parties with Ivan Schwarz (01/30/2019)

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Cleveland History Center Cleveland Stories Dinner Party
with GCFC President Ivan Schwarz at Music Box Supper Club!

Ivan talked about where he grew up, how he got his start in the industry, and what brought him to Cleveland twelve years ago (he kept emphasizing what a cool city he thinks it is). He also updated the audience on the GCFC’s current push to increase the Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit and what the future of the Cleveland film industry looks like.

Thank you to the Music Box Supper Club for hosting, and thank you also to the Cleveland History Center for putting on these great Dinner Parties that tell the colorful history of Cleveland!

The goal of the Cleveland Stories Dinner Party is to bring to life some of the fun, interesting stories about Cleveland’s past – from sports, to rock ‘n roll, to Millionaire’s Row, — the series will focus on tidbits from Cleveland’s past that will really thrill the audience. The Music Box is presenting this series in partnership with the Western Reserve Historical Society’s new Cleveland History Center. We think the Cleveland History Center is one of the most important museums in Cleveland. An unknown gem that Clevelanders should know more about, and support. It is the only museum in Cleveland dedicated to preserving and documenting the history of Cleveland. The Cleveland History Center includes two mansions, the Crawford Auto Aviation Museum, Chisholm Halle Costume Wing, Research Library, Kidzibits Hands-On Gallery, rotating exhibitions, and the Euclid Beach Park Grand Carousel.

GCFC Fall Media Mixer (12/19/2018)

Thanks for coming to the last GCFC Media Mixer of 2018!

It has been quite a full year for us at the GCFC and for the Cleveland Film Industry.
Over 18 productions filmed in Northeast Ohio this year, including the Sundance Film Festival Selection Native Son, Helen Hunt’s I See YouAnhedonia, HBO’s Hard Knocks, Netflix’s The Last Summer and All the Bright Places, and more!
Thank you to the dedicated Cleveland Film crew for all of your hard work this year.

This Media Mixer is the largest that we can remember due to the over 200 local professionals who joined us for an evening filled with industry updates on the past year and what we’re looking forward to in 2019.

The focus of 2019 will be raising the Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit to $100 million.
When the tax incentive is increased, we can accommodate more productions throughout the year
and it will pave the way for the building of new production infrastructure.

Please consider a gift of $100 or more to support our work in 2019.
Let’s turn $100 into $100 million so we can make this dream a reality!

Thank You to Our Generous Sponsors

Each year, the GCFC holds a benefit called “Behind the Camera” where we invite a special guest(s) in the industry to share their experiences in film or TV. This year we were joined by actors from the Golden Globe® and Emmy® Award winning series Band of Brothers, as well as the Casting Director and one of the Writers.

The HBO Series had global talent and a local connection associated with the production. GCFC President, Ivan Schwarz was a producer on Band of Brothers.
