The 2022 Fall Roy W. Dean Film Grant for indie filmmakers is now accepting applications. The grant is awarded to a unique film that makes a contribution to society. Recipient will receive $3,000 cash and thousands more in film services to help them complete their project. Deadline for submissions is October 31st, 2022.
The Roy W. Dean Film Grant is offered by 501(c)3 non-profit From the Heart Productions. Since 1992, the grant has awarded over $2,500,000 to dozens of filmmakers to help them complete their projects. Submissions can be documentaries, short films, narrative features, or web series.
Included in the long list of donated services awarded to the grant winner is $15,000 in theme music for their project from award winning composer David Raiklen, $6,000 in animation from Emmy winner Charlie Canfield, $500 in expendables, grip, or lighting from Filmtools, a one week DSLR camera package rental from Birns & Sawyer, and much more from many heartfelt donors.
Britt Penrod Award
$500 will be awarded to grant applicant with a film that is unique but also makes an exceptional contribution to society. The grant is made possible by a generous donation by its namesake, Britt Penrod, who has been a great supporter of independent films. Winner of this award does not need to be the Roy W. Dean Grant recipient.
Every Filmmaker Gets Help for Their Project by Just Applying
A unique feature of every Roy W. Dean Film Grant, each applicant is offered a 15-minute consultation on their project. Submitting filmmakers can get advice on how to find funding, build up a database of donors or investors, market their film, and more.
