The Greater Cleveland Film Commission is now hiring a Director of Development.

Director of Development (Full Time or Part Time)


Key Responsibilities:

  • Development:
    • Collaborate with COO on creating and executing annual fundraising plan according to annual budget
    • Provide President and COO with fundraising schedule and project dates
    • Project manage all fundraising campaigns and membership program
    • Manage Development Coordinator tasks
    • Secure financial support from individuals, foundations and corporations throughout the year
    • Identify funding sources from prospective donors, in-kind donations, marketing opportunities and charitable events
    • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors
    • Create and execute a strategy for a large sustained base of annual individual donors
    • Develop and track proposals / reports for all individuals and corporate fundraising
    • Manage Board giving opportunities and work on individual development plans with each Trustee
    • Maintain regular communication with Board Development Committee chair
    • Report development updates at Board / Board Committee meetings
    • Assist COO with grant applications
    • Provide President and COO with funding updates bi-weekly
    • Attend networking events
  • Fundraising events:
    • Assist with fundraising events in conjunction with event planner and COO
    • Provide updates to President throughout the event planning process
    • Provide board with event information
    • Update current sponsors / members on benefits

Key Skills:

  • 5 years minimum combined experience in professional fundraising and/or experience in event sales
  • Eloquent, clear and persuasive verbal and written communication skills
  • Have knowledge and experience fund raising from individuals to major gifts
  • Easily develops new relationships and maintains current ones
  • Sharp negotiation and strategic skills
  • High degree of initiative and “can do” spirit
  • Ability to set goals, establish timelines, manage risk, stick to budgets, delegate tasks, and manage projects
  • Works effectively and collaboratively individually and as a team
  • Is flexible and can easily adapt to often changing environments
  • Positive attitude
  • Proficient in donor database management, preferably Donor Perfect
  • Able to work some evenings and weekends
  • Has reliable transportation
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
