FESTIVAL OPERATIONS ASSISTANT – Apply Now
Description:

• Seasonal, $12/hour
• Report to: Festival Operations Management, full-time CIFF Staff
• Summary: The Festival Operations Team plays a vital role at the forefront of the Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF), which will take place March 27th–April 7th, 2019 at Tower City Cinemas. “Ops” are responsible for ensuring the smooth and punctual day-to-day operation of the theaters and the walkway; depending on the role assigned. The roles of Festival Operations include Theater Operations, Pre & Post Film Operations, Walkway Operations, and Equipment Operations. The Festival Operations Team is responsible for coordinating screening and theater timelines and conditions in collaboration with projectionists, volunteers, other CIFF staff and team members, and Festival guests and speakers. They also manage the organization and logistics of the Festival layout including passholder and ticket holder lines and crowd flow/control.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Set-up and break-down CIFF presence (signage, banners, furniture, supplies, tables, chairs, etc.) at Tower City Cinemas
• Communicate efficiently and effectively with all constituencies via email, in person and over radios
• Coordinate details to keep the schedule running timely and efficiently including the seating of audiences, the flow and moderation of pre-film announcements and Q&A/panel discussions, screening start and end times, and clearing of the theaters, walkways, and hallways.
• Manage theater conditions including cleanliness, temperature, lighting, technical details and troubleshooting, reserved seating, and assist with the set-up and breakdown of Q&A forums
• Track theater attendance and capacity and perform pass holder and ticket holder line counts
• Act as a liaison between and collaborate with filmmakers and guests, sponsors and partners, volunteers, projectionists, and other CIFF team members and staff
• Supervise volunteers by assigning tasks and training as needed
• Greet patrons and serve as the “face of the Festival,” answering questions and directing patrons to the appropriate location
• Attend Festival Operations information sessions and meetings, as well as the CIFF Staff Orientation and Pep Rally

Qualifications:
• Superior communications skills
• Strong send of time
• Advanced interpersonal skills including understanding roles and boundaries and the ability to work alone or as part of a team
• Excellent customer service including the ability to maintain a positive attitude and projecting “the Festival spirit”
• Problem assessment and solving including anticipating needs and potential issues, and working efficiently under time constraints and pressure in fast-paced and lively work environment
• Technical aptitude including operating a radio, microphone, speakers, barcode scanners, and iPod touches

Preferred Qualifications:
• Volunteer experience with Cleveland International Film Festival
• Experience with theater, festival, or event management

Considerations:
• Must be 18 years of age or older to apply
• Certain positions require the ability to stand for long periods of time
• Certain positions require the ability to life up to 50 lbs.
• Festival Operations team members work just prior to the Festival and during the Festival (approximately March 23rd – April 8th)
• Minimum expectation of hours worked is 32 (4 eight-hour shifts)

All Festival Operations team members are considered independent contractors for the Cleveland International Film Festival and are not considered employees of the organization. Scheduling is not guaranteed and can be altered prior to or even during a scheduled shift. Contracted team members are compensated only for time worked, not for time scheduled.

Important Note: Please note that seeing films during the Festival is an unlikely scenario. CIFF seasonal team members are only allowed to attend a CIFF screening if they are not scheduled and only when all other passholders, ticket holders, and Stand By ticket holders have been seated and there is still space available in the theater.

Description:

• Seasonal, $12/hour
• Report to: Box Office Management, full-time CIFF Staff
• Summary: The Box Office Team plays a vital role as the initial impression and the primary customer service representatives of the Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF), which will take place March 27th–April 7th, 2019 at Tower City Cinemas. Box Office Assistants are responsible for providing friendly and informative customer assistance to CIFF patrons and for accurately and efficiently placing and fulfilling online, over-the-phone, and in-person ticket, gift certificate, and membership orders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Set-up and break-down CIFF Box Office presence (signage, furniture, supplies, etc.) at Tower City Cinemas
• Assist patrons by answering any Festival questions, by guiding them through the ordering process, by helping them navigate the CIFF website and Program Guide, and by directing them to appropriate persons or locations.
• Communicate efficiently and effectively with patrons and staff via email, over the phone, and in-person
• Attend Box Office information sessions and meetings, as well as the CIFF Staff Orientation and Pep Rally

Qualifications:
• Technical knowledge and experience a must, including operating and troubleshooting phones, laptops, printers, ticket printers, postage meters, and ecommerce platforms
• Excellent customer service skills including the ability to offer patient, gracious, informative, and engaging customer experiences
• Strong interpersonal skills including understanding roles and boundaries and the ability to work alone or as part of a team
• Superior communication skills
• Problem assessment and solving including anticipating needs and potential issues and working efficiently under pressure and with time constraints in a fast-paced and lively work environment

Preferred Qualifications:
• Volunteer experience with Cleveland International Film Festival
• Prior experience with ticket sales, festivals, and/or customer service.

Considerations:
• Must be 18 years of age or older to apply

• Box Office team members work pre-Festival (approximately March 8th-27th) and during the Festival (approximately March 28th – April 8th)
• Expectation of total hours worked is 60 hours (3 five-hour shifts per week for four weeks)
